Assoc. Prof. Dr. Walelign Worku AYELE
Dr. Walelign Worku is an associate professor of agronomy at the School of Plant & Horticultural Sciences, Hawassa University. He has a PhD degree from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Ås, Norway. He conducted several funded research projects and authored numerous articles in the area of pulse agronomy, stress agro-physiology, cereal-pulse cropping systems and resource use efficiency focusing on radiation and moisture. Previously he served as coordinator for an IDRC supported joint project between Hawassa University and University of Saskatchewan, aimed at improving food security in the highlands of Ethiopia through improved and sustainable agricultural productivity involving pulses. He headed the Department of Plant Sciences and also coordinated the Development Innovation Fund supported project that worked to enhance the graduate training program in agronomy at Hawassa University. He has supervised the research of 47 graduate students as a major advisor and 23 students as a co-advisor. |
